ENID, Okla. - Funeral service for Oscar Stubbs Jr., 72, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. today, Aug. 21, 2012, at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Gerald Holt, Th.D, officiating. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Oscar was born Aug. 11, 1940, near Gibson, N.C., to Clevie Stubbs and died Friday, Aug. 17, 2012. His father, Oscar Stubbs Sr., preceded him in death on Aug. 10, 1940. He grew up and attended school in Gibson, N.C., and attended Assembly of God Church.

Oscar worked for Norton Construction Co., moving to Fairview Oklahoma and later moving to Enid Okla. He worked for the city of Enid, and Rite-Way Construction as a backhoe operator.

On Dec. 19, 1967, he married Verda Brakhage in Cleo Springs, Okla. Oscar enjoyed being with his family and friends. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.
