Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life for Joyce Smith, 86, of Enid, Okla., will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Your Family Church, 1301 N. Independence, with Pastors Rick Dominic and Gary Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Enid Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Joyce was born July 31, 1928, the daughter of Jack and Lucy Jane Walsh (Jones) Foster and passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015.

She was a 1945 graduate of South San Antonio High School.

She was united in marriage to Mabon “Smitty” Smith on Aug. 7, 1947, at the Base Chapel, Lackland Field, San Antonio, Texas. He preceded her in death in 2002.

She retired from FW Woolworth in 1991, after 23 years of service.

Joyce was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church and currently a member of Your Family Church. She enjoyed doing her giant Bible word search and playing the piano.

In 1945, she was voted as The Yellow Rose of Texas in the Stars and Stripes Newspaper.

Survivors include three daughters, Gail Litton of Enid, Janie Carpenter and husband Charlie of Lahoma, Okla., and Marilyn Shahan and husband of Gate, Okla.; three sons, Ronald Smith of Enid, Doug Smith and Juanita of Enid, Gary Smith and wife Deanna of Fort Worth, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Carol Bond; brother, Jack Foster Jr.; son-in-law, James Litton; and two grandsons, Jason Bond and Jono Brisbois.

Memorial contributions may be made to Your Family Church, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds.
