The funeral for Lucile Markos Schroeder, 85, will be 2 p.m. today, July 18, 2009, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Kenneth Wade and Dave Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Enid Cemetery .

She was born Dec. 31, 1923, in Enid to Pete and Grace Haworth Markos and died Wednes-day, July 15, 2009.

Her mother died when she was 8 months old and she was raised by her aunt and uncle, James and Vivian Markos, and her father.

She attended Enid schools, graduating from Enid High School in 1941.

During World War II she worked four years at Enid Army Air Field.

She married Melvin W. Schroeder June 30, 1946, in Enid.

They farmed and raised cattle southeast of Enid and bred, raised and raced thoroughbred horses.

She belonged to square dance and card clubs and sang in the choir.

They moved to Enid in 1978, where she was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her husband, Melvin, of the home; one daughter, Vicki K. Smith of Enid; two sons, Larry M. Schroeder of Waukomis and Tony M. Schroeder of South Carolina; one half-sister, Mar-tha Kelly of Yukon; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Waukomis Christian Church.
