Funeral services for Ellen E. Roberts, 94, will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2008, in the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ted Gibson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Enid Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. today, in the chapel of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.

Ellen was born Feb. 24, 1914, on a farm homestead east of Douglas to Issac “Ike” and Mable Irey Roelse and passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center. Ellen attended the Keystone country school. Later the family moved to a farm east of Douglas, where she graduated from Douglas High School. On July 28, 1935, she married Lloyd Roberts. The couple made their home on a farm homesteaded by her Grandfather during the Cherokee Strip land run east of Douglas. In 1961, Lloyd preceded her in death. On June 29, 1964, she married Ellis Roberts in Enid. The couple made their home southeast of Covington where they farmed. Ellis preceded her in death in 1979. Ellen was a member, from the age of 14, of the Douglas Christian Union Church and a Missionary with the Douglas Missionary Society.

Ellen is survived by two daughters, Esther Roever and her husband, Duane of Hennessey, Berneice Shaw and her husband, Tony of Fort Gibson; two sons Lloyd R. Roberts of Muskogee, Jerry D. Roberts and his wife, Glenda of Spokane, WA; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.

Ellen was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Memorials may be made to the Douglas Christian Union Church with Henninger-Allen Funeral Home acting as custodians for the fund.
