Gerald H. Richard, 62, 902 W. Oklahoma, died suddenly Wednesday morning in a local hospital. His funeral service will be at 2 PM Friday in the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. O. E. Weeks officiating.

Burial will be in the Enid Cemetery.

Richard was born March 8, 1911, near Harmon, attended Arnett and Horniny schools then graduated from Cleo Springs high school. He moved to Enid and attended Northwestern State College at Alva.

Richard and Vivian Dodd were married June 17, 1935, in Seminole and made their home in Enid until 1942. He worked for the Texas Oil Company in Enid and during World War I I moved to Tulsa and worked for the Oklahoma Ordnance Works in Pryor. After the war ended, they moved to Gladewater, Texas, where Richard owned and operated the OK Rubber Welders business until forced to discontinue it in 1963 because of ill health.

They moved to Enid and Richard worked as the jailer at the Enid Police Department until December, 1970, when he retired.

Richard was a member of the St. Luke's United Methodist Church and was predeceased by a daughter Barbara Jean, an infant brother and sister.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gary and Larry, both of Enid; three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Wanda) Walls, Longview, Texas, Mrs. Tom (Janie) Jantz, Houma, Louisiana, and Mrs. Kim (Bettye) Wilson of Enid; three grandchildren; a brother, Fred Richard of Canyon, Texas, and a sister, Mrs. James (Viva) Manuel, Enid.
