Walter Reed, 79, 314 N. Coolidge, died early Sunday in a local hospital. His service will be Tuesday at 10 AM in the West side Wesley and Church with the Rev. Duane D. Moore I'm officiating. Burial will be in the Enid Cemetery, beside his wife, under the direction of Hennen jerk – Allen Funeral Home.
Reed was born October 9, 1897, 2 miles East of Bison. He came to Enid when a small boy, and attended the Enid schools. In 1922, he established a truck line in Enid which became the Enid Motor Line.
Reed owned and operated the line until he sold it to the Santa Fe trails in 1943. He worked as terminal manager for that company until 1946 at which time he was employed by the Sooner – the cash way until his retirement in 1957.
On December 26, 1921, he married Grace Williams at Kingfisher. She died March 16, 1977. He was a member of the Westside Wesleyan Church and Masonic Lodge No. 501.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. May Newkirk, Enid, and Mrs. Bessie Bealey Coldwater, Kansas; one brother, E. G. Reed, Fairfax; and several nieces and nephews.
