Herbert Leroy Reed

Herbert Leroy Reed, 49, died late Sunday in a local hospital. His service will be Tuesday at 2 PM in the Fossett Funeral home Chapel. Burial will be in Enid Cemetery.

Reed was born in Houston, Texas, March 7, 1928, and came to Hennessey following the death of his mother. He was 10 years old at the time. An uncle, Austin Macy, raised him. He attended the Macy school. In 1953 he married Barbara June Connor at Perry.

Reed was a welder by trade and helped build about all the grain elevators in Enid. He became affiliated with the Calvary Baptist church.

Reed had been in ill health since August 12.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara, Fairmont, formerly of Athens, Texas; one son, Randy Joe, of the home; one daughter, Sheri Lynn, of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Smith, Alexandria, Louisiana, and Mrs. Lucille Miller, Wichita, Kansas; an uncle, Austin Macy, Hennessey; and three nieces.

He was preceded in death by one son in 1958.
