Service of Celebration of Life and Remembrance for Darlene Lavern Mitten, 91, of Enid, Okla., will be 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2014, in the Chapel at Enid Cemetery. The Rev. Jim Edmison will officiate. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Darlene passed away Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at her home in Enid. She was born Dec. 12, 1922, in Drummond, Okla., to parents Albert Ruhl and Lavern (Monson) Ruhl.

She attended Enid Public Schools.

After high school, she met and married the love of her life, Jim Mitten, on Oct. 11, 1940. Together they had two boys.

Raising her family and her home were the most important things to Darlene. She loved garage sales, going to them as well as having them, gardening and flower arranging. She was a loving “mother” to three little Yorkies, Tina, Pebbles and Lisa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; two sons, Tommy Lee Mitten and Gary Lynn Mitten; sister, Maxine Krieger; and two brothers, Lt. Col. Murhl Ruhl and Bobby Ruhl. She is survived by a nephew, Ron Ward and wife Natalie of Enid; nieces and nephews, Phyllis Bond of Powder, Ore., Phyllis Shimanek and husband Jim, Dorothy Coppock, Kathy Austin, Louella Fisher, Ralph Mitten Jr. and wife Rosalee, Wayne Mitten and wife Suzie, Colleen Dickinson and husband Wes, Kay Trujillo, Jim Brown and wife Sharon, Betty Peterman; and loving friend and caregiver, Carol Mason.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love, with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodians of the funds.
