Enid Cemetery



Virgil (Bud) Melvin, 65, 2731 N. Midway, died Tuesday evening in a local hospital. He had suddenly taken ill earlier at his home. His service will be 10 AM Saturday in the Madison Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Byron Ramsey and the Rev. Finis O'Neal officiating. Interment will be in Enid Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home.

Melvin was born October 28, 1912, at Marshall, and came to Enid at an early age with his parents. He lived in Enid most of his life, living a couple of years in Arkansas. On March 16, 1940, he married Elvina Rose.

Melvin was a machinist with Hackney Iron and Steel for 32 years, and a member of the Madison Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Elvina; three sons, Fred, Jesse and Calvin, all of Mesquite, Texas; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ann Campbell, Covington, Mrs. T. E. (Sue) DeHaas, Enid, and Mrs. Waunita Brickman, Sunnymeade, California; and one brother, Kelso Melvin, North Enid.
