A celebration of life service for Charles Steve “Chuck” McMahan, 69, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel. A private family burial will be in Enid Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Charles Steve McMahan was born Aug. 16, 1938, in Enid, Oklahoma, the son of Marie Jewell McMahan Hale and Carl McMahan and died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center. His stepfather was Tennie Hale.

Chuck was raised and educated in Enid, graduating from Enid High School. After high school, Chuck joined the United States Navy and spent four years in military service to our country. After the Navy, he returned to Oklahoma and spent the remainder of his life in and around Enid. He worked for the local cable TV company for years and in the oil field business. The last few years, Chuck worked as a security guard and process server. Chuck was a member of the local Elks Lodge for many years and served as a trustee for several years. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with family.

Five sons survive Chuck, Charles McMahan Jr. of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Paul McMahan of Flower Mound, Texas, Kenny McMahan of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Wendell Barberee of Crowell, Texas; one stepson, Jeff Baker of Enid; life-long friend, Phyllis Baker of Enid; two sisters, Karen Billington of Chickasha, Oklahoma, and Linda Ford of Tulsa; one brother, Richard McMahan of Enid. Papa Chuck’s pride and joy were the 13 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He also had many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.

Chuck was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Hale; father, Carl McMahan; and his stepdad, Tennie Hale; one stepson, Randy Moulton; and one nephew, Terry Stevens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elks Christmas Family Basket Fund with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the fund.
