The graveside service for Jahleel Almer Mauk Sr., 101, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, in Enid Cemetery . Ray Rose will officiate. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.

He was born March 5, 1908, near Carrier to William Homer and Laura Anna Nation Mauk and died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at The Commons.

He grew up on the family farm, graduating from Hillsdale High School in 1927. He attended Kansas State A&M College.

He worked as a commercial fisherman on Lake of the Woods in Wisconsin, was a fireman and brakeman for Santa Fe Railroad, worked briefly at Champlin Refinery and was a professional harvester. He drove a truck for Swift & Co. and Grapette Bottling Co., retiring in 1972 after working 19 years for Headlee Oil and Moore Distributing delivering fuel.

He married Pauline Cauthen on Nov. 30, 1932, in Perry. She died in 1982.

He was a member of North Garland Church of Christ and later attended Garriott Road Church of Christ.

Surviving are one son, Jahleel A. Mauk Jr. of Sperry; one daughter, Shirley Lorenz of Enid; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Pauline, he was preceded in death by an infant son, an infant great-granddaughter, four brothers and four sisters.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to In Search of the Lord’s Way or Hospice Circle of Love.
