HERZBERG SERVICES TO BE HELD TODAY
The body of Abraham Herzberg, Enid Merchant who died Friday will lie in state in the foyer of the First Presbyterian Church from 2 p.m. this afternoon until the funeral service at 3 o'clock.
Friends of the beloved pioneer may see him at that time as the casket will not be open at the funeral which Dr. T. H. McDowel and Dr. D. L. Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in the Enid Cemetery with the Fossett-Schaeffer funeral home in charge.

Mr. Herzberg came to Enid shortly after the opening of the Cherokee Strip and immediately opened a dry goods store which was expanded into a department store in its present location where is has remained for 45 years.

He is survived by his wife, of the home and one daughter, Mrs. B. A. Jacobi , Dallas, TX and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Herbert Barnett, Enid, and four grandchildren.

Last Sunday

A pioneer Enid Merchant, Abraham Herzberg, 83, died at his home at 609 W. Broadway Friday morning. On Sunday afternoon funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian church with Rev. T. H. McDowell, pastor and Dr. D. L. Edwards officiating. Burial was in Enid Cemetery.

Mr. Herzberg, whose department store at 105 North Grand , had been his business for 45 years, had been in failing health since 1940, when his son Leroy Herzberg died.

He was born in Breidenbach, Germany in 1861, and came to the United States in childhood. He early became an American citizen. He first lived in Chicago, then moved to Anthony, Kans, He came to Enid in its early days.

Survivors include Mrs. Herzberg, a daughter Mrs. B. A. Jacobi of Dallas, Texas; a daughter in law, Mrs. Herbert Barnet, 1201 W. Wabash, and four grandchildren, Jerry and Ay Herzberg, 1201 W. Wabash, and Mrs. Sheldon Harris and Allen Lee Jacobi of Dallas.
