Interment will follow in Enid Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. today, April 22, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Betty was born Sept. 15, 1922, in Enid, Okla., the daughter of Ora Clarence and Vernis Viola Carter Utsler and spent her early years in Enid. She was a 1940 graduate of Enid High School and a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps.

She was united in marriage to L. Francis Harmon on Aug. 10, 1941, at First Baptist Church in Enid by the Rev. B.M. Jackson. He preceded her in death on April 18, 1992. Betty and Francis celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Hawaii, with their daughter, Francee and family in 1991.

Betty was employed by the city of Enid as the city manager’s secretary for many years, working with Waldo M. Poore and Tom Sailors. She was then employed by the Enid School System as a secretary at Waller Junior High School.

Betty was a member of First Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Prime Timers. She served as head of the teller committee at First Baptist for several years.

Betty and Francis loved adventure and traveled extensively with church groups, friends and family. She will be forever remembered by her family for homemade pies and noodles. One of her favorite things was spending time with her grandchildren. A highlight of her later years was attending her granddaughter’s destination wedding in Puerto Rico in 2007.

Survivors include her daughter, Francee Hume and husband Jeff of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Courtney and husband Daniel Filer of Austin, Texas, Lesley Hume of Austin, Texas, and Andrew Hume of Oklahoma City. Betty is also survived by her great-granddaughter, Reagan Filer, who was the joy of her life. Betty also leaves a brother, Squire Utsler and wife Dorothy of Enid, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Joe Lynn Harmon and Mark Dean Harmon.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Baptist Children’s Home with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
