ENID - Funeral service for Kurtis Shawn Girty, 36, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Laura Williams-Choate will officiate, assisted by Jeff Pino. Burial will follow the funeral service in Enid Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Kurtis was born in Enid to Jerry D. and Evalyn M. Girty on August 20, 1973, and passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends. He lived in Enid and graduated from Enid High School in 1993.

He was employed at Hutch's C-Store and had his own lawn business until his illness made it impossible to continue. He was a member of the Gem and Mineral Society of Enid, Stillwater and Wichita, Kan. He loved his family dearly. He had no children. He loved his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Kurtis is survived by his companion, Ben Countess; mother, Evalyn M. Girty; four brothers, Kenneth and his wife Laura of Cherokee, Karl, Kelly and Kristopher of Enid; two sisters, Linda and her husband Mike Jackson and Stacey Wadford and her fiancé Thomas Chattam; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry D. Girty, and grandparents, K.G. and Melva Braley, Clarence and Cathy Chew and Walter and Viola Girty.
