Alice May Bradshaw Devers

The funeral services for Alice May Bradshaw Devers, 85, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at Henninger-Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Jerry Campbell will officiate. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery.

Alice was born April 12, 1922, in Bluff City, Kansas to Fred P. Bradshaw and Elva V. (Smith) Bradshaw and died Friday, September 28, 2007, in St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She grew up in south-central Kansas. After graduating from North High in Wichita, she attended cosmetology school. She practiced in Wichita where she met George L. “Jack” Devers. They were married April 23, 1943, in Wichita, where their son George David was born.The couple moved to Enid in 1944 where daughters Theresa Ann and Karen Sue were born. In 1959 the couple formed Dever’s Motors Company. Alice May worked as a bookkeeper for the motorcycle business for many years. They retired to Orange, Texas in 1977. After Jack passed away in 1981, she returned to Enid. She moved to The Commons, Methodist Home in 2006.

She was a member of the Church of Christ from an early age. Alice May was a loving wife, mother, grandmother with a quiet, gentle spirit and a sweet smile.

She is survived by son, David Devers; daughter, Karen Holland, both of Enid; brother, Richard Bradshaw of Manhatten Beach, Calif.; sisters-in-law, HazelBelle Devers Schutkesting of Enid and Virginia Bradshaw of Parsons, Kan.; six grandchildren, Michael Devers of Seguine, Texas, Master GY/SGT. Patrick Devers USMC of Jacksonville, N.C., Lori Devers Wilkerson of Enid, Kelli Devers Lopez of Oklahoma City, Captain Todd Holland USMC of Havelock, N.C. and Trent Holland of Enid; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; daughter, Theresa Ann Harbour; son-in-law, Travis Holland; two grandchildren, Miranda and Nathan Harbour; one sister and one brother.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Muscular Dystrophy Foundation.
