Visitation with the family of Harold “Jim” Denton Jr., 71-year-old Enid, Okla., resident, will be 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Enid Cemetery.

Harold was born Sept. 10, 1943, in Leavenworth, Kan., to Harold and Bonnylin (Scherer) Denton Sr. and died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, in Enid.

He attended school in Leavenworth.

On June 6, 1966, he married Brenda Lee Tate in Platte City, Mo., where the couple made their home.

They lived briefly in Leavenworth, Kan., before they moved to Enid in 1969, where Harold worked for Central Machine and Tool, retiring as a supervisor after 40 years.

He was a model train enthusiast, an avid Kansas City and Sooner football fan, and enjoyed baseball, as well.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda of the home; his children, James, Susan and Matt, all of Enid; six grandchildren, Heather, Candace, Chelsea, Jameson, Tyler and Chance; one grandson, Tegan, who is on the way; two great-grandsons, Brayden and Oden; one sister, Cathy Denton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, John.

Memorials in Harold’s name may be made to Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
