The funeral for Wanda M. Barnett, 80, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Henninger-Allen Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Carroll Barnett will officiate. Burial will be in Enid Cemetery.

She was born Dec. 21, 1925, in Tonkawa, to Dennis F. and Edna F. Walton Cockrell, and died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, in St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She graduated from Enid High School and attended Enid Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper at various banks. She married Carcel Barnett June 9, 1973. She retired as bookkeeper with George E. Failing Co. She attended West Side Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Carcel of the home; three daughters, Kimberlea Barnett of Stratford and Susan Barnett and Elizabeth Barnett, both of Weleetka; two sons, Ronald R. Barnett of Stratford and Lyndon Burpo of Enid; one sister, Norma Kretchmar of Medford; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, heart division.

Carcel Ray Barnett was born August 31, 1930 in Woodward to Toy and Viola Mary (Schaumburg) Barnett and passed away August 31, 2011. He was a 1948 graduate of Woodward High School. On September 9, 1950, he married Dorothy Coleman. To this union, three children were born. Together, they moved to Enid in 1955 and Carcel worked as an wool presser at a local cleaners. In 1962, he became a police officer for the City of Enid. He worked there until 1968 when he became a boiler fireman for Champlin Refinery, working there for the next 17 years. He then worked in maintenance at NORCE for the next five years until his retirement.

On June 9, 1973, Carcel married Wanda Cockrell. They were married 33 years before her passing in 2006.

He was an avid race car driver. He also was an excellent marksman who won several trophies.

He was preceded in death by his parents and second wife.

Carcel is survived by three children, Ron Barnett and wife, Kim of Ada; Susan Barnett and Elizabeth Ann Barnett, both of Weleetka; nine grandchildren, Daniel Parker of Edmond; Ronald Barnett, II of Stratford; Chris Barnett and wife, Rebecca of Sulphur; Josh Barnett and wife, Kacey of Lone Grove; Jason Barnett and wife, Jill; Stephanie Barnett and Sarah Barnett, all of Ada; Megan Francis of Tulsa; Derrick Francis and fiancé, Kristin of Bartlesville. Also, six great-grandchildren, Presley Parker and Dawson Daniel Parker, both of Yukon; Finley Caroline Parker of Edmond; Christopher Barnett, II of Sulphur; Gavin Barnett of Lone Grove and one on the way; two brothers, Carmen Barnett and wife, Joyce of Enid; Carol Barnett and wife, Betty of Kansas City as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services for Carcel will be 2:00pm Tuesday, September 6, 2011 in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Committal will follow in Enid Cemetery.

Memorials can be given through the funeral home to Emmanuel Baptist Church or Enid Cemetery.
