A Celebration of Life for Steven R. Baker, age 58, of Ponca City, is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Brad Clay officiating. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017, at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Steven was born Jan. 9, 1959, in Enid to Ralph and Luella (Davis) Baker, and passed away Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017 in Ponca City. Steve graduated from Pioneer High School in 1977, and then continued his education at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education. He married Kathi Venable, the love of his life, on May 20, 1995, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Steve was a well-respected high school football coach around the state of Oklahoma. He began his teaching and coaching career in Newkirk, Oklahoma, then went on to Pioneer High School; Allen, Oklahoma; Bells, Texas; and finally Ponca City, where he currently was teaching American History. He invested countless hours in students and athletes throughout his career. He was also an avid OU fan, spending every Saturday watching college football. Steve was loved by all who knew him, and especially by those who had the honor to call him "coach."

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Luella Baker; and brother, Danny Baker.

He is survived by his wife Kathi, of the home in Ponca City; four children; Brad Clay and wife April, of Edmond, OK; Drew Baker and wife Monica of Fairview, OK; Brian Baker of Fairview; Haley Baker of Fairview; five grandchildren, Matthias, Ava, Josiah, and Sterling Clay, all of Edmond; and Britain Baker, of Fairview; a brother, Lindy Baker and wife Connie, of Enid; a sister, Connie Jo Collins and husband Rick of Enid; sister-in-law Suzy Baker, of Enid; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Memorials in Steve's name may be made to the Ponca City High School Football Booster Club, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
