Enid Cemetery


A former resident of Enid, Bertha Ethel Austin, 97, died May 29 in Paola, Kansas. After cremation, a memorial service will be observed at 11 AM Friday in Brown Funeral Home Chapel. George F Austin and the Rev. Spencer P. Austin will conduct the service. Burial will be at a later date in Enid Cemetery.

Mrs. Austin was born December 7, 1885, near Sedan, Kansas, to Abner and Minerva Potts Sinclair. The family moved to Paola, Kansas, where she attended school. On December 29, 1905, she and Otis Frank Austin were married at Paola. They moved to Granite, Lone Wolf and Mangum before moving to Enid in 1965. He died June 14, 1966.

Mrs. Austin was a member of the Mangum Christian Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Minerva Jo Fielder, Raymore, Missouri; three sons, George F. Austin, Midland, Michigan, Dr. Spencer P. Austin, Indianapolis, Indiana, and D. C. Austin, Enid; 16 grandchildren; and several great – grandchildren and great – great – grandchildren.

Memorials in her name may be made to the building fund of University Place Christian Church.
