Richard Carl Asbell, 46, died Wednesday evening in his home after a short illness.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Saturday in the Davis Park Christian Church with Rev. Charles Gibson and burial will be in the Enid Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home.

He was born March 14, 1926, in Morven, Georgia, and came to Enid after World War I I. He was stationed at Vance Air Force Base. He had previously served in the U. S. Army in Europe and has received the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster. He married Margaret Roberts on February 14, 1947.

He graduated from Enid Business College May 6, 1954, and was employed at Champlin Refineries Company as an accountant since 1954. At the time of his death, he was manager of special projects in the systems and procedures division.

He was a member of the Petroleum Accountants Association; VFW and Davis Park Christian Church, where he was Deacon and served as the treasurer last year. He had received the Outstanding New Jaycee of Enid award in 1959.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret, of the home; two daughters, Marcia of the home; Sheri, Oklahoma State University; one son, Stephen, Ozark Bible College, Joplin, Missouri; two brothers, CMS Bill Asbell, Hawaii, and Vern Asbell, Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.

Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Heart Division and Davis Park Christian Church has been suggested as suitable memorials, with the funeral home and church as custodians.
