Enid Cemetery


A Memorial service for Mrs. H. E. (Lucille M.) Alton, 86, who died in Dallas, Texas, will be at 2 PM Saturday at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church.

Mrs. Alton, long – time Enid resident and prominent social leader, was born and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, where she and Harry E. Alton were married in 1915.

The Alton's established their home in Enid, where he operated the Alton Mercantile Company for a number of years.

Mrs. Alton was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church and Chapter AQ of PEO.

She moved to Dallas, Texas, in January to be near her son. Mrs. Alton was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Mullett, and by her husband, who died in 1924.

She is survived by her son, Sam T. Alton of Dallas and two granddaughters, Ann and Jean Alton, both of Dallas.

A Memorial fund has been established in her memory at the church with Henninger – Allen Funeral Home and St. Matthew's acting as custodians.
