DOUGLAS — The memorial service for Harold Leon Schulz, age 82, of Douglas, Okla., will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Pastor Ron Graber officiating. Burial will follow in Douglas Union Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. He was born June 13, 1928, in Kansas to Herman and Anna Schulz and died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, in the family home near Douglas.

Harold attended and graduated from Pioneer School. He married Rita Belle Adams Aug. 30, 1949, at Pleasant Valley Christian Union Church. Harold served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Harold and Rita made their home in the rural area of Douglas, Okla. They had two daughters, Diane and Darla.

He also was employed with Garfield County Districts No. 1 and 3 and retired from this after 47 years. Harold farmed the family land for nearly 62 years. He resigned from farming three years ago and spent the rest of his days at home enjoying the gift of laughter from his four great-grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Rita, of the home; two daughters, Diane Schulz of Washington, Ill., and Darla Hardaway of Douglas; three granddaughters, Heather Moore of Enid, Cortney Hardaway of Douglas and Sara Hardaway of Douglas; four great-grandchildren, Hannah and Katey Moore of Enid and Bailey and Braden Hardaway of Douglas. Harold also had three brothers, Junior, Charles and Johnny, and three sisters, Delores, Juanita and Shirley; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
