The funeral services for Opal O. McVicker, 90 year old Douglas resident, will be Saturday, January 29, 2005 in the Douglas Christian Union Church at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Bill Meyer will officiate. Burial will follow in Douglas Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.

Opal was born April 19, 1914 on the family homestead southeast of Douglas to Jay Clark and Eva Mae (Clark) Guthrie and went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 24, 2005 at her home. She attended school at Douglas graduating in 1932 with high honors in athletics and academics

She married Ernest Raymond McVicker on July 27, 1932. She lived in Douglas her entire life and was a life-long member of the Douglas Christian Union Church. Opal loved the Lord and her family. She started working outside of the home at the age of 57. She began working at nursing homes in the Enid area until her retirement and continued caring for her neighbors and family until her health confined her to her home.

She is survived by five sons, Jack of Lousbury, MO, Don of Covington, David of Marshall, and Jerry and Terry of Canton; four daughters, Betty Cramer of Meno, Martha Carter of Enid, Sharon Pope of Canton and Geneva Drake of Kentucky; 43 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ernest; one son, Raymond Ernest; one daughter, Mary White Haigler, and one grandson, Christopher Danill.

Memorials may be made to either the American Lung Association or to the American Diabetes Association with Henninger-Allen acting as custodians of the fund. Condolences may be sent to www.enidwecare.com.
