Funeral Services for Oral Dean Daugherty, 87, of Garber, Oklahoma will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Garber 1st Baptist Church, Reverend Tom LeGrand will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday, April 27 from 6 to 8 pm at the Church.

Dean was born May 8, 1925 to Augusta Thomas and Maude Ella (Ramsey) Daugherty in Enid and died April 24, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid. Dean attended school in Enid, Oklahoma. He entered the workforce at a young age and worked for Hawkins Grocery Store doing deliveries, Schuler Fruit Co and Royal Crown/Nehi Bottling Co. as a driver. On July 1943 during WWII, he joined the United States Army. He received an honorable discharge in 1944. Dean then returned home and went to work for himself as a mechanic with a towing service, for over 50 years. Dean enjoyed roller skating and fishing. He loved to take a friend of his to Kaw Lake fishing. He treasured animals. Dean made pets of all of his animals, his rooster, goats and pig. However, his favorite pet was his dog Buster.

Dean also loved trains and would tell stories of his train ride home from the service. He loved to travel and often would pull his travel trailer to different lakes so he could go fishing.

Dean is survived by wife Tarri Hawkins of the home, two daughters, Sue Streck and husband Jim of Fallon, Nevada, Twila Daugherty and husband Shawn Ubersox ; son Dean Daugherty Jr. all of Fairview, Oklahoma, Step-daughter Nikki Nava and husband Cuco, of Covington, Oklahoma, Step-son Travis Hawkins and wife Kelly of Fayetteville, North Carolina, 14 Grandchildren, 16 Great-Grandchildren and sister Twila Jean McGahey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, former wives Katherine, Doris Jean, and Josie, one brother, one sister, and one brother-in-law.

Memorial can be made to the Garber Fire Department with Fairview Funeral Home acting as custodians of the fund.
