The funeral for Barbara M. West, 74, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Del Norte Cemetery , Drummond. The Rev. Stanley Jenkins will officiate.

She was born May 26, 1935, in Long Beach, Calif., to Tracy and Ruth Warren Starr and died Sunday, July 12, 2009, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.

She was raised and educated in Enid, graduating from Enid High School in 1953. She attended Oklahoma State University.

She married Rex West April 1, 1955, in Enid. She worked as a key punch operator at Champlin Refinery offices before moving to Topeka, Kan., with her husband in 1959, where she worked at Sears and Goodyear Plant. She lived in Garden City, Kan., from 1970 until she moved to Enid in 1977.

Surviving are her husband, Rex; three sons, Matthew West of Garden City, and Mark West and Wade West, both of Enid; two daughters, Rexann Sachs of Rapid City, S.D., and Lori Bolton of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by one half-brother.

Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life for Rex C. West, 83, of Enid, Okla., will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Tom LeGrand will officiate. Burial will follow at Del Norte Cemetery, Drummond, Okla., with the United States Army providing military honors. Visitation with the family will be 6-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at the funeral home.

Rex was born March 29, 1931, in Drummond, Okla., to parents Earl West and Ida (Crites) West. He passed away Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, in Rapid City, S.D. He graduated from Enid High School in 1949. He attended Enid Business College and graduated in 1951, then served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953. After the war, he returned home to Enid and married Barbara Starr on April 1, 1955.

He continued his education at Phillips University, where he earned a B.S. in 1959. He pursued his graduate studies at Colorado State, the University of Missouri and Kansas State Teachers College, receiving his master’s degree from the University of Kansas.

He taught biology and science at Topeka High School in Topeka, Kan., from 1959-1968. He worked for USV Pharmaceutical Co. for two years, then went to work for E.R. Squibb & Sons Pharmaceutical in January 1970, in Garden City, Kan., and later in Enid, until his retirement after 26 years of service. He loved hunting, fishing and college football.

Rex was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his parents, Earl and Ida West; his twin brother, Ray; brother, Ed West; and sister, Bonnie Adams.

He is survived by his children, Matthew West of Garden City, Kan., Mark West of Rapid City, S.D., Wade West of Enid, Okla., Rexann Sachs of Rapid City, S.D., Lori Boulton of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Sam West of Bismark, N.D.
