Del Norte Cemetery


Mrs. Frankie L. Underwood, 81, Waukomis, died Monday evening in a local nursing home after a lingering illness. Her funeral service will be at 2 PM Thursday in the Waukomis Christian Church with the Rev. Bill Bushnell and Dr. Stephen J. England officiating.

Burial will be in the Dell Norte Cemetery at Drummond, under the direction of the Brown Funeral Home.

The body will lie in state at the church before the service and the casket will remain closed afterward.

Mrs. Underwood was born in Corbin County, Kentucky, and came to Oklahoma with her parents at an early age, settling first near Kingfisher and later moving to Drummond. She and George C. Underwood were married in Drummond in 1910. They lived in Enid then moved to Waukomis in 1925. He died on February 17, 1960.

Mrs. Underwood was a member of the Waukomis Christian Church. Her survivors include three sons, Rev. James Underwood of Enid, Harold and Harris Underwood, both of Waukomis; three daughters, Mrs. B. A. Norris of Indianapolis, Indiana, Mrs. John Nueller of Chicago, Illinois, and Mrs. Paul Fry, Weatherford; 22 grandchildren; 17 great – grandchildren and a brother, Claude Chestnut of Plainwell, Michigan.
