In Memory of Our Mother
Margaret Jane Powell was born November 5th, 1844, in Warren Co., Ind., and died Sunday evening, March 12th, 1916, at 8 o'clock at the home of her daughter in Enid.
Mrs. Powell had been a resident of Drummond for a number of years and was loved and honored by everyone who knew her. When quite young she united with the Christian Church and after has lived a consistent Christian life. She was prominent in Church work being the president of the Christian Aid Society of this place for years. In her last sickness while she suffered so much yet she was so patient and always thinking of others ___ she became unconscious.
The funeral services were held at the Christian Church Tuesday, March 14th at 2 o'clock and the services were conducted by Bro. Rehorn, of Enid. The flowers given to show the sympathy of friends were beautiful. Among them being a sheaf of wheat, which was given by her children.
To mourn her loss are three sons and five daughters, Lon Powell of Buffalo, Okla.; Ed Powell of Los Angeles, Calif.; Staine Powell of Great Falls, Mont.; Mrs. Nellie Anderson, Calbert, Ks.; Mrs. Rose Stiles, Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Myrtle Docter, Rydall, Ks.; and Mrs. Dora Waldron, Enid.
Several people came here from Enid and were joined by a large number of friends. She was laid to rest in the Del Norte Cemetery beside her husband. The children have the sincere sympathy of the entire community in this time of sorrow. Mrs. Frankie Underwood.
