On October 22, 2009 Betty Roberta (Secor) Meier joined her Heavenly Father among the Angels.

Betty was born July 12, 1919 to Robert and Mabel (Mallory) Secor in Waukomis, Oklahoma. Betty attended Bar Elementary until 7th grade and graduated from Drummond High School. On March 21, 1937 Betty married William “Bill” Meier. Betty and Bill lived southwest of Okeene for 4 years before moving southwest of Canton. Betty and Bill had three children, Gary Lynn, Ronald Joe and Benny Kaye. Betty worked at the Sportsman Café and the Highway Café until she retired. In 1981 Betty and Bill built a new home on the farm and Betty resided there until shortly before her passing.

Betty was a life long member of the Canton Methodist Church and an active member of the United Methodist Women’s Group.

Betty is survived by Ronald Joe and Donna of Noble, Oklahoma, Bennie Kaye and John of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Nancy and Frank of Loyal, Oklahoma; twenty two grandchildren, Tracy Stewart, Michael Meier, Chad and Jennifer Meier, Glenn and Amanda Halverson, John and Ashley Staude, Jay and Katherine Staude, Misty and Rodger Crutchfield, Joshua and Melissa Meier, Eric Meier, Walt Ginn, Katie Ginn, Shawn Jones, Robin and Tommy Barnell and Anthony and Kristen Dean; eighteen great-grandchildren, Samuel, Maggie, Emma, Kilee, Kadence, Katelyn and James, Taylor, Evan, Cyrus, Kalvin, Ashley, Brittany, Tyler, Braden, Jeffery, Tiffany and Alexis; two great-great-grandchildren, Jace and Eli; and numerous other relatives and friends; Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, one son, Gary Lynn, two sisters, one brother and two great-grandchildren; Betty was very affirmed in her relationship with the Lord and will be remembered and missed greatly.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at the Canton United Methodist Church with Reverend Chuck Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow in Del Norte Cemetery near Drummond, Oklahoma under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton, Oklahoma.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724 to the Canton United Methodist Women’s Group.
