The funeral for Matthew Franklin “Mac” McWilliams, 79, of Drummond, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church. The Revs. John McLemore, Don Johnson and Gordon Epps will officiate. Burial will be in Del Norte Cemetery, Drummond, with full military rites conducted by Vance Air Force Base Silver Talon Honor Guard and Masonic graveside rites conducted by Waukomis Masonic Lodge 161. Arrangements are by Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

He was born Aug. 1, 1928, in McGee, Miss., to Harvey Andrew Jackson and Mary Jane Maddox McWilliams and died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, at Greenbrier Nursing Center.

He was raised and educated in Lake Village, Ark., and attended college in Little Rock, Ark. He served in the Army Air Corps as an aircraft mechanic 1946-1953. He served with the Fifth Air Force based in the Philippines, toured Kempo, Japan, and was a mechanic on the P-51 Mustang. He later was stationed at Vance Air Force Base, where he was flight engineer for the B-25.

He married Ladonna Jean Jones April 4, 1952, in Enid. She died March 10, 2003.

He worked for Hockaday’s Hardware Store and in 1962 started McWilliams Television, which he owned until 1969. He started McWilliams and Sons Grocery Store in Drummond, operating it from 1965 until he retired in 1995. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Waukomis Masonic Lodge 161, Guthrie Scottish Rite and was a retired volunteer with Drummond Fire Depart-ment.

Surviving are two sons, Rodney McWilliams of Carl Junction, Mo., and Randy McWilliams of Drummond; four sisters, Marie Ball of Pocahontas, Ark., Augusta Tice of El Dorado, Ark., Lucy “Kitty” Mantooth of Little and Shirley Parson of Candor, N.C.; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

In addition to his wife, Ladonna, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Drummond Volunteer Fire Department; Hospice Circle of Love; Oklahoma Medical Re-search Foundation, cancer division; or the charity of donor’s choice.
