ENID — The funeral service for Naomi Louise Rodenberg Engelman, age 89, will be held Monday, May 23, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Willow View United Methodist Church. Rev. Lesly Broadbent will officiate. Burial will be in Del Norte Cemetery , Drummond, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Naomi was born to William H. and Louise Y. Rodenberg, August 1, 1921, in a house three miles northwest of Waukomis, OK, and died May 19, 2011, in Edmond, OK. She lived there approximately three years and then moved north several miles to a farm across the road from Sunny Slope School. Naomi attended Sunny Slope one year; then moved to a farm southeast of Drummond, OK, and attended Drummond schools, graduating from high school in 1939.

After graduation from Drummond High School, Naomi attended business college, then worked for Champlin Refining Company for three years.

Naomi married LeRoy Engelman on March 12, 1944. Naomi and LeRoy lived in Pennsylvania until LeRoy was sent to Europe to serve in World War II, at which time Naomi returned to Oklahoma. After returning to Oklahoma, Naomi worked at Garfield County Courthouse for 31 years.

Gardening was always a big part of Naomi's life, and Naomi spent time as a member of a local garden club. Iris and daylilies were among Naomi's favorite flowers, and at one time she had in excess of 200 different varieties of iris and daylilies. Naomi was a long-time member of Willow View United Methodist Church in Enid, where she served in various capacities of the Women's Missionary Society.

Naomi was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; her parents, William H and Louise Y Rodenberg; and her sister, Lillie Mae Pruiett. Naomi is survived by her son, Stephen and his wife Judith of Edmond, OK; her grandson, Ryan of Houston, TX, and her grandson, Blake and his wife Natalie of Richardson, TX, and numerous friends and relatives.
