The funeral for James Donnelly, 78, of Hennessey, formerly of Ocean Springs, Miss., and Fort Worth, Texas, will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Robyn Thompson-Goggs will officiate. Burial will be in Del Norte Cemetery , Drummond. Military graveside rites will be by Vance Air Force Base Silver Talon Honor Guard.

He was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Warsaw, Ind., to James Michael and Elizabeth Clark Donnelly and died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at Enid Senior Care.

He began his military career in 1949, with the Air Force, serving in Spandau Prison, Berlin, Germany, DaNang, Vietnam, Alaska and Arizona. He was a decorated marksman, retiring in 1971, with the rank of senior master sergeant. He worked for Engles Shipyard in Mississippi, retiring in the 1990s.

He married Carmenita Barrows in 1974. She died in 2007.

Surviving are one sister, Patricia Donnelly of Houston; one brother, Terry Donnelly of Williamsburg, Va.; one stepdaughter, Judy Stone of Brentwood, Calif.; and one stepson, Howard Estenson of Enid.

In addition to his wife, Carmenita, he was preceded in death by one brother.
