FATAL AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT
Ernest Beckner, aged about 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Beckner, of southwest of Drummond, was fatally injured at about 8:30 Monday morning when his roadster turned over on him.
The unfortunate youth was on his way to Drummond where he attended high school, when the accident happened. He was taking his younger brother and sister to school at Barr, but they were both thrown clear of the car and were uninjured. The car apparently struck a rut while being driven fast which together with a bent radius rod caused the accident.
Young Beckner's skull was broken into five pieces as a result of the crushing weight of the car coming on his head when it rolled over on him.
Clyde Peterman, Lawrence Beckner a brother of the unfortunate youth; Raymond Randolph, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Dale, and daughter, Miss Lauretta Dale heard the noise of the accident and rushed to the scene. They report that the car was clear of young Beckner, who was lying in the road and bleeding profusely. Dr. D.S. Harris was called by Mr. Dale and the stricken youth was placed on a cot and taken to his home where he died at about 9:30.
The father and mother, two brothers, Lawrence, 16; John, 8; one sister, Opal, 14; besides other relatives are left to mourn his untimely death.
Funeral services were held at the United Brethren church at Barr Wednesday at 2 p.m., followed by interment at Del Norte cemetery.
