Covington Cemetery


ENID, Okla. — Funeral service for Randy Edward Way, 53, of Enid, Okla., will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home, Enid, with the Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Covington Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Randy was born Nov. 3, 1960, in Enid, Okla., to Charles and Mamie (Meise) Way and died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at his home in Enid.

He attended Covington-Douglas grade school and was in its first kindergarten class.

In 1968, his parents moved to Naponee, Neb. He graduated in 1979, from Franklin High School in Franklin, Neb. After his graduation, they returned to Covington, Okla.

Randy served with Headquarters 2169 Tank Division in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany and Fort Benning, Ga., from 1983-1985.

He worked for Staerkel farms, Garber, Cook Hydrocarbon, Medford, and for 10 years for Hotsy of Oklahoma in Enid. Randy owned and operated R&S Powerwashing.

On July 4, 2012, he married Sue Gardiner at Government Springs Park in Enid, Okla.

Randy loved music and played bass guitar with several Enid bands over the past 29 years. He played in Loaded Ghost for four years and Turbo Sloth for three years. He was currently playing with the band Act of Arson and Contents Under Pressure.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Way; two stepchildren, Billy and his wife Kelsey Gilmore of Edmond, and Amber Mowery of Enid; two stepgrandchildren, Nicole and Daegan Mowery; his parents, Charles and Mamie Way, Bloomington, Neb.; one brother, Benny Way, Enid; and one niece, Rebecca and husband Brody Schmidt and their daughter, Lyla Schmidt, Nash; and many distant cousins.

Memorials may be made to OMRF, heart division.
