Covington Cemetery


Funeral services for W. E. Thomas, age 81, of Covington, will be held Monday at 2 PM in the Covington Christian Church with the Rev. Sonny Rogers and Coy Donakey officiating. Burial will be in the Covington Cemetery under the direction of the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Earl Thomas died Friday, June 23, in the Bass Baptist Hospital. He and his twin sister were born August 3, 1907 in Beaver County, Oklahoma to Murray and Jessie Thomas. Shortly after the births the family moved to Garber, Oklahoma.

Earl worked in the oil field for Champlin Refinery, until he suffered a back injury. He married Mabell Joyce Wilson and later moved to Covington where they owned and operated their own business, the Thomas Produce and Cream Station. After they closed the business he worked for Rogers Grocery Store for 18 years. He was a volunteer fireman for 20 years, and a lifetime member of the Christian Church in the various towns where he lived.

He is survived by his wife, Mabell J. Thomas of the home; one son, Ronald Vernon Thomas and his wife, Karen of Lahoma; one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Theleta) Williams of Marshall; four grandchildren, Erik and Jennifer Thomas and LoRae and Tammy Williams; a twin sister, Mrs. William (Pearl) Wright of Salem, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to Garfield County Hospice or the Covington Christian Church.
