Covington Cemetery


HUNTER - Memorial service for Richard A. McLaren, 81, of Hunter, Okla., will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, at United Methodist Church, Hunter, Okla., with Rev. Linda Pope officiating. Burial will be in Covington Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. His request was to be cremated. Viewing will be 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Richard was born Jan. 21, 1932, near Covington, Okla., to Amos and Susan (Perrin) McLaren and passed away at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center on Thursday, June 20, 2013, after a brief illness.

Richard grew up and attended Covington schools.

He entered the U.S. Army and served during the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged.

Richard married Lavina Staples June 15, 1952, in Covington, Okla.

He moved to Illinois, where he worked as a safety inspector at Laclede Steel Company for 27 years, retiring in 1982. He moved back to Oklahoma in 2010.

He was a member of United Methodist Church in Hunter.

Richard is survived by his wife, Lavina, of the home; daughters, Sue Ann Shores of South Roxana, IL., and Linda Davis of Hunter; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, JoAnn Kimmell of Ponca City, OK; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Diana Skaggs; two brothers; and a sister.

Richard loved to walk and pick up things to beautify the countryside.
