Covington Man Killed in Accident

A 60 – year – old Covington man died Monday morning while driving south on Oklahoma 74, according to Dr. Samuel Price, Garfield County medical investigator.

Price said Bobby E McLaren suffered a stroke about 7:10 AM while driving about 1 mile south of Covington. The vehicle left the road and came to a stop.

Trooper Joe Tindal of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigated the incident. A preliminary report was not available Monday morning.

Price said the body was delivered to Anderson Funeral Home.

Covington – The funeral for Bobby Lee McLaren, 60, who died Monday, will be at 2 PM Thursday in Christian Church. The Rev. Mike Channelle will officiate. Burial will be in Covington Cemetery directed by Reavis Funeral Home, Garber.

He was born June 3, 1928, and attended Covington Schools. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany in 1950 – 52. He formerly worked at the grain elevator at Douglas. He was employed on a Garfield County Road maintenance crew.

Survivors include two brothers, Russell A. of Baker, Louisiana, and Richard of Alton, Illinois; and two sisters, Joan Kimmell of Ponca City and Doris Staples of Covington.

Memorials may be made to Cancer Research or Garber Emergency Medical Service.

The family will receive visitors from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
