On Wednesday, July 9, 2008, in the comfort of her home, Dorothy O. ( Cassody ) Heydman joined her Lord and Savior and all her loved ones that have gone before her. Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home is arranging Dorothy 's request for cremation and the celebration of life which will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, in the Chapel of Central Christian Church. The family will greet guests at 2 p.m. The Rev. Don Johnson will officiate. There will be a reception immediately following the service.

Dorothy was born Dec. 26, 1913, to Hubert and Lucy Jane Zahl in Enid, OK. The family moved to Marshall, OK in 1918. She attended Marshall High School and graduated from Marshall High School in 1932.

She married Joe Ben Cassody July 1, 1935. They made their home in Covington , OK. They had one son, Joe Everette, and one daughter, Flora Beth. Dorothy was a member of Covington Christian Church. She also was involved in many civic organizations, including Eastern Star, Home and School Club, and the Garden Club. Her hobbies included sewing, reading, and flower gardening. In 1970, Dorothy and Joe Ben moved to Enid, where she was employed with JC Penny for 11 years and later worked for her daughter at Beth's Flowercart. Here in Enid, she was also active in Oakwood Christian Church, Central Christian Church, Eastern Star, First Senior AMBUCS, Red Hats, and other retiree organizations.

Joe Ben passed away Jan. 3, 1982. After being a widow for many years, Dorothy fell in love and married schoolmate, LaVerne Heydman, of Alva, OK in 1992. Verne left us in 1993.

Dorothy enjoyed life at it's fullest and lived her last years with her daughter Beth, traveling back and forth between Enid and Eufaula, OK.

Survivors are one son, Joe E. Cassody of Tulsa and one daughter, Beth Boydston of Checotah, OK. Grandchildren include Jeff and Beth Cassody , Tulsa; Jim Cassody , Tulsa; Sally and Dave Dayton, Park City, Utah; Greg and Bonnie Evans, Lee Summitt, MO; Robert and Michelle Evans, Ringwood, OK; Joe and Krista Evans, Stillwater, OK. These families gave her 21 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy also is survived by nephew, Bob Zahl of Oklahoma City, and niece Kathy Chambers of Enid. Her stepchildren include Thaymazene and Dick Harrison of Alva, OK; Bill and Paula Heydman of Denver, CO; Allen and Genger Heydman of Wemberly, TX; tom and Carol Heydman of Dodge City, KS; and Tim Heydman of Waukomis, OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, H.A. Zahl; a granddaughter, Jamelyn Evans Lopez; and two husbands, Joe Ben Cassody and Verne Heydman.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Central Christian Church, Hospice Circle of Love, or the charity of donor's choice.
