The funeral service for Melvin D. Carter of Covington will be 2:00PM Saturday, January 23, 2016 in the Covington First Baptist Church. Pastor Jody Schmidt and Pastor Phillip Gregg will officiate. Burial will follow in Covington Cemetery. There will be a visitation Friday evening from 6PM-8PM in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel.

Melvin was born February 22, 1937 in Covington to Lester and Bertha Carter and passed away at home on January 18, 2016. He married Jodene Poarch on November 27, 1959 in Watonga, Oklahoma.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jodene, his son Jon, 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, one sister Loretta and many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and his daughter Debbie.

Memorials may be made to either Covington First Baptist Church or the Tri-County senior Center with Henninger-Hinson acting as custodians of the fund.
