Died from Hydrophobia
Gus Beople, of Covington, was bitten by a mad dog last week and died from Hydrophobia shortly afterward.
In speaking of the case, Douglas News says:
Beople's case is a sad one. While walking in the road after night, he met a savage looking dog which he attempted to frighten away with his hat. The dog did not easily scare and Gus soon found himself covered by the animal. Before he could free himself, Gus lost a portion of his ear and his nose and face were badly chewed. On reaching home Gus had a physician summoned and the general feeling was that the symptoms did not indicate hydrophobia.
