November 16, 1928 - February 23, 2020

The Mass of Christian Burial celebrating and honoring the life of Suzanne Vater, 91, of Enid will be held at 02:00 P.M. Friday February 28, 2020 in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Father Mark Mason officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

She was born November 16, 1928 to George Frank and May Edythe French Johnson in Arkansas City, Missouri and passed from this life on February 23, 2020 in Enid, Oklahoma.

She moved to Enid, OK. as a young child with her family. She attended Enid Public Schools and Enid High School where she graduated in 1946 and served as a May Queen attendant and was the Band Queen. She then attended Gulf Park College for Women in Gulfport, Mississippi. She married John Joseph "Bud" Vater on October 04, 1947 in Enid, OK. She was active with the Junior Welfare League, Catholic Women's Study Club, A.A., PEO Chapter AQ and the State Board of Mental Health. She also held her Realtors License. Suzie and Bud were also charter members of St. Gregory's Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Suzette Vater, son, Jamie Vater and wife Linda, of Oklahoma City, OK., grandchildren, Travis Morgan, Megan Liebl and husband Greg, Johnny Vater and partner Delphi, and Jamie Vater and fiancé Taylor, and great-grandchildren, Jackson, Lawson, Blakely, and Mady Morgan, and Hardy, Grady, Noelle Liebl.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John J. Vater Jr., son, John J. Vater III, and great grandchild, Bennett Morgan.

Memorials in her name may be made to the Enid SPCA and the St. Joseph Catholic Scholarship Fund with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
