Recent Deaths

The funeral for Emma Freeman, 86, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Breckinridge with the Rev. Kenneth Wade and Rev. Glen Kollmeyer will officate. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Breckinridge.

She was born Dec. 27, 1907 in Breckinridge to Henry and Mary Oldehoeft Cohrs and died Sat. , Nov. 12, 1994 in St. Marys Hospital, Enid. She was a life long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was acive in The Ladies Aid.

On May 1, 1927 she married Earl Freeman in Breckinridge where she and her husband farmed. She moved to Enid in 1973.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary Hutton, of Oklahoma City; Marcella Schroeder of Enid; and Naida Miller of Tyrone; Eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren..

She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, and two sisters.

Breckinridge

It has pleased the Almighty God, the God of life and death, to removed from this vale of tears, Mrs. Katherine Cohrs. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geishler of Hanover, Germany.

Grandmother Cohrs was born March 28, 1946, in Hanover, Germany. In early infancy she was accepted in God's kingdom through the sacrament of holy baptism. At the age of 9 she came with her parents to America settling first in Cook county, Ill. In 1869 or 14 years later, they moved to Bremen, Kans. In 1874 she was united in holy wedlock to Peter Cohrs. They came to Oklahoma in 1900, remaining here the rest of their lives. To this union were born six children, two dying in infancy. Mr. Cohrs passed away January 2, 1923, and since then the other four children have died.

With a peaceful thought, commending her soul to the Almighty God and Jesus Christ, whom she dearly loved, she left this earth May 11 at the age of 91 years, one month and 13 days. Death was due to old age. She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mary Cohrs, with whom she lived the past two years, one half-brother, William Mohlenbrink at Bremen, Kans., seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

With the death of Grandmother Cohrs, Immanuel congregation has lost its oldest member and the only member of whom we have any record who passed the 90th year of life.

Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery here on May 13, 1937. The funeral text in German is found in II Timothy 4, 18 and the Englisth text in Hebrews 9, 27.
