Alex Diel, 57, farmer living four miles west and a mile and a half south of Garber, was found dead at the Sterling Oil lease northeast of Garber Monday afternoon. Later Dr. James F. Tagge of Enid, Garfield County medical examiner, said he had died of a heart attack.Diel was found at the foot of a ladder on an oil storage tank. He was employed as a gauger and apparently had been stricken as he started to scale the ladder.Diel was born in the Breckinridge community and had lived there all his life.Survivor include, his widow, Sylvia, of the home; one son, Robert of Enid; two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Kelley, Enid and Mrs. Duane (Anita) Showater, Garber; two brothers, Henry, Breckinridge and George, Tulsa and three sisters, Mrs. Ed Molenbrink and Mrs. Arthur Sattelmeier, Breckinridge and Mrs. J. W. Crawford of Gainesville, Fla.Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, in the Breckinridge Lutheran Church. Rev. E. F. Gunther will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lutheran Cemetery near Breckinridge under direction of Anderson Funeral Home of Garber.
