Bison Cemetery


A Mass of Christian Burial for Laroy Goodpasture, 92, is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bison, with the Rev. Edward T. Menasco celebrating. Burial follows in Bison Cemetery. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary is 6 p.m. today, Oct. 18, 2016, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bison.

Laroy was born Dec. 6, 1923, in Hennessey, to Vernon Laroy and Elsie Mae (Summers) Goodpasture, and passed away on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, in Enid. Laroy graduated from Hennessey High School, and served in the United States Army during WWII, at the 1st HQ hospital unit. On April 6, 1947, he married Beatrice Mae Patocka in Winfield, Kan. He was a meat cutter for over 40 years at Safeway.

Laroy was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bison; a 12-year member of the Silver Hair Legislature of Oklahoma; and a manager at Wheatheart Nutrition. He loved bowling and gardening.

He is survived by his children, Dennis and Connie Goodpasture, of Edmond; David and Sandra Goodpasture, of Edmond; Darren and Natalie Goodpasture, of Enid; and Dee and Dena Stratton, of Enid; eleven grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great grandchildren.

Laroy is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beatrice, of 48 years; brother, Kenneth; sister, Lila Mae; daughter, Denise; and granddaughter, Jenny.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Chairi Foundation, Downs Syndrome.
