Bison Cemetery


A graveside service for Lloyd Peter ”Smokey” Balk, 100, of Guthrie will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Saint Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Bison. Visitation will be today at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.

He was born March 16, 1906, in Fairmont to Joseph and Millie Rudd Balk and died Sunday, July 9, 2006, at Colonial Estates Nursing Home in Guthrie.

He spent most of his life as a carnival worker with the Royal American Show traveling the world.

Surviving are one brother, Ernest Balk of San Antonio; three sisters, Margret Rogers, Dorothy Maggert and Ramonda Laughlin, all of Enid.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
