Amy Catherine (Inglish) Schovanec was born on January 7th, 1952, to William and Mary Inglish in Oklahoma City and passed away Wednesday, June 29th, 2022, in Enid, Oklahoma.

Amy graduated from Edmond Memorial High School on May 26, 1970. While in college at Phillips University in Enid, OK, she met her future husband, Edward Neil Schovanec of Waukomis. The couple married on January 20th, 1973, and relocated to South Dakota, where Amy completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education on May 17, 1975, at Huron College. After residing in South Dakota for two years, Ed and Amy returned to Waukomis, OK, to raise their three children, Matthew, Emily, and Erin.

Amy was an enthusiastic proponent of the Suzuki Music Method, which she employed when teaching private lessons. She began her career as an Elementary Music teacher for Enid Public Schools in 1983. While working and raising her family, Amy completed her Master of Education in Elementary Education from Phillips University on April 26, 1987.

In addition to teaching, Amy was passionate about sewing, quilting, and playing the piano/organ at local churches in Enid (First United Methodist Church, Central Christian Church, Willow View United Methodist Church, Christian Church of the Covenant and St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church). Amy retired in 2011 after teaching for 28 years. While retired, she had time to pursue her love for quilting, gardening, and grandparenting.

She is survived by her husband, Ed Schovanec; three children, Matt (Erin Vculek) Schovanec, Emily Schovanec, and Erin Schovanec; three grandchildren, Zachary, Parker, and Madeline Schovanec; brother, Bill Inglish Jr; and sister, Mary Caroline (Inglish) Appleman. Amy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary (Wilbanks) Inglish, as well as her brother, Tom Inglish.

In lieu of flowers, Amy requests donations be sent to Hough Ear Institute in Oklahoma City, with Brown-Cummings Funeral home serving as custodian of funds.

Condolences and special memories may be shared with the family online at www.Brown-Cummings.com.
