Black Bear Cemetery


The funeral for J.C. Paul Pommitt, 81, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Emmanuel Baptist Church. The Rev. Wade Burleson will officiate. Burial will be in Black Bear Cemetery near Garber. The Rev. Ted Kuschel will officiate. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

He was born July 7, 1924, in Waukomis to A.D. and Nina Postier Pommitt and died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, in the V.A. Hospital, Oklahoma City.

He graduated from Douglas High School in 1942. He enlisted in the Army in Fort Sam Houston, San Anto-nio. He re-ceived his basic training as a tank driver and command radio operator at Fort Knox, Ky., and was assigned to the 14th Armored Division under Gen. George Patton, serving in Germany. He later was assigned to the U.S. military government after the surrender of Japan. He was discharged in 1946.

He married Ruth Allen Dec. 21, 1947, in Garber. He worked for Convair in Fort Worth, Texas, for five years before moving to Tulsa. He then worked for Rockwell International as a parts inspector, retiring in April 1981. He drove a bus for Perry schools and later for Drummond schools more than seven years. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, a life member of Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2270 of Enid.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth, of the home; one son, Don Pommitt; and a sister, Prenella Philbrick of Medicine Lodge, Kan.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Extreme Make Over with Emmanuel Baptist Church.
