NORMAN L. THOMAS

The funeral for Norman L. Thomas, 84, of Fort Supply, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Fort Supply Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Steenbergen will officiate. Burial will be in Fargo Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service, Woodward.

He was born May 28, 1922, at Sand Creek to Hervey "Herb" and Phillipine Florence Arnold Thomas and died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, in Woodward.

He grew up in Fargo and attended Pleasant View school and later Fargo school. He married Detta Fae Wisner Oct. 3, 1942, in Woodward. He served in the Army Medical Corps in the Philippines and Okinawa, receiving two Bronze Stars. After the war, they farmed and ranched. He worked for Woodward Livestock Auction more than 20 years. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, where he served as treasurer. He served on the Fort Supply school board and was an honorary chapter farmer with the FFA.

Surviving are two sons, N. L. Thomas and Bob Thomas, both of Fort Supply; three daughters, Karen Woodward of Lawton, Carolyn Thornton of Woodward and Katie Wingo of Fort Supply; two sisters, Cleo Jahay of Hazelton, Kan., and Fay Ella Woods of Woodward; one brother, Floyd Thomas of Attica, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Memorials may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
