Charles Edward "Charlie" Hunter

June 25, 1952 ~ August 7, 2013

CHARLES EDWARD HUNTER, son of Elmer Ray and Iantha Pearl (Johnston) Hunter, was born June 25, 1952 on the Hunter family farm west of Ft. Supply, OK. He departed this life early Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at his home near Oakwood, OK in Dewey County at the age of 61 years.

Charlie, as he was known to his family and friends, began his school years at Ft. Supply through his senior year, graduating from high school with the class of 1970. He was united in marriage to Margaret Ann Holsapple, June 27, 1975 at Sayre, OK. They made their first home in Ft. Supply where Charlie drove a truck for Drake Construction. In 1988, they moved their family to the Holsapple family farm west of Oakwood where they raised their two children, Shannon and Jared. Since that time, Charlie was engaged in farming and ranching. He enjoyed working with his cattle, as well as, hunting, fishing, and watching sports. Mostly, he liked being with his family and especially his grandsons. He was a member of the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association and Dewey County Fair Board.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Hunter of Oakwood, his daughter, Shannon Ruggs and husband Kevin of Mulhall, his son Jared Hunter of The Village, three grandsons: Kade, Kash and Kruz Ruggs, his father, Elmer Hunter of Ft. Supply, two sisters, Ellen Hunter and Marie Tune and husband Bill both of Ft. Supply, four brothers, Jim Hunter and wife Joyce of Yukon, Kenneth Hunter and Terry Hunter and wife Susan both of Ft. Supply and Troy Hunter and wife Debbie of Woodward. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the Taloga School Auditorium with Pastors Shane Sander and Bill Tindell, officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery near Oakwood. Memorials can be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for pancreatic cancer research with Redinger Funeral Home-PO Box 236-Seiling, OK 73663 serving as custodian of the funds.
