Nieto, Paul, 82, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010 in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born November 28, 1927 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Pablo and Juanita (Valdez) Nieto. He was united in marriage to Wanda Hatchell on August 28, 1948 in Wheeler, Texas.

Paul served his country in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17 in 1945 and returned to proudly graduate high school as a Red Tornado in 1947. Paul contributed to the community of Clinton, Oklahoma in various ways by serving as a founding member of the Clinton Public School Foundation. He was a master of community networking and was referred to by some as "Mr. Clinton". The City of Clinton acknowledged Paul's contributions by naming a street after him called "Nieto Way". Paul graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1953 with a bachelors degree in Business Administration and continued his relationship with the school as a charter member of the OU Associates. He served as President of the OU Alumni Association in 1989. His career began as a financial adviser with RJ Edwards Inc. in 1953. In 1983, he started Paul Nieto & Associates serving Oklahoma communities until 1998 before joining The Baker Group until his death. Paul loved spending time with his friends by organizing weekly gatherings. He enjoyed the annual Marine Corps Banquet which he proudly attended for the last 10 years.

Paul is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wanda Nieto; two sons, Paul Nieto and wife Lee and Greg Nieto and wife Diana both of Norman; one brother, Gregory "Goyo" Nieto and wife Zora of Burkburnet, TX; one sister, Christina Morgan of Lawton, OK; two grandchildren, Lexi Henegar and husband Justin of Beaumont, TX and Nate Paul Nieto of Breckenridge, CO; three great grandchildren, Jaylyn, Jaxon, and Ellie; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Margaret Benefield and Mercedes Cabrera.

Donations may be made to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, 121 S. St. Asaph St., Alexandria, VA 22314.

Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M., Thursday, October 21, 2010 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 22, 2010 at Bethel Baptist Church, 1717 W. Lindsey, Norman under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 22, 2010 in the Clinton Municipal Cemetery, Clinton, OK.
