Georgia Katherine Davis was born on October 2, 1921, in Eldorado, Oklahoma to George B. Davis and Myrrh (Hendryx) Davis. She married Maurice E. Lampton in 1948 and had three children, Katherine, Patricia, and Emily. Georgia was preceded in death by husband Maurice; sister Eva; brothers John and Rob; and granddaughter Christina Baine. She is survived by daughter Kathy and husband Warren Taber, daughter Trisha and husband Jack Hamshar, and daughter Emily Jones, as well as grandson Grant Taber and wife Jennifer, and great grandchildren Ellie, Sydney Katherine, Charles and Edie Beth; grandson Todd Taber and wife Katie; and great grandchildren Alexandra and Luke; granddaughter Katherine Baine; grandson Jon Baine and wife Meng ji Lee Baine; and grandsons William Jones and Ian Jones.

Georgia was a self-described Oklahoma Girl. She was the fourth child of George B. Davis, a widower who married Myrrh Imo Hendryx, the teacher of his sons. Georgia was the only child of Myrrh and George, though she was parented along with her three half-siblings. Georgia grew up in Altus, Oklahoma, where the family owned and ran cotton gins. She attended Stephens College in Missouri, studied piano at Julliard in New York City, and graduated from Southern Methodist University. She taught piano and music at Holland Hall in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She was introduced to Maurice Lampton by his step-sister, a college friend of Georgia's. They married in 1948 in Altus, Oklahoma and set up a home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, where Maurice was establishing a law practice.

Georgia was active in the Sapulpa community, being a member of Sewing Club, Reading Club, P.E.O. and volunteering at the Salvation Army. She was very busy in the life of her family, sewing dance costumes and clothes for the girls, and doing music accompaniments for her daughters and other members of the Sapulpa Band. P.E.O. was an important part of Georgia's life and she served as President of the local chapter several times. Her membership was transferred to Norman where she relocated in 1997.

Georgia and Maurice joined the First Presbyterian Church of Sapulpa in 1953, where she helped with the youth choir and served as an Elder. She transferred her church membership to the First Presbyterian Church of Norman upon moving to Norman. She was active in Church Circle and attended Sunday School and other church activities. She was a strong supporter of women's leadership in the church. She was an avid reader, continuing her discussion of the last book she was reading even as she was moved to Norman Regional Hospital for the last time.

Georgia was courageous in her life, taking over family enterprises after the death of Maurice. She moved to Norman several years after the death of Maurice and became an active participant in the community as a volunteer at Norman Regional Hospital, a member of Coterie and membership in P.E.O. She remained as such until her health required her to limit her activities. Living at the Gardens at Rivermont, she moved busily through the facility in her wheelchair, enjoying the friendship and activities of the people there.

She died on February 20, 2019. Services will be 10:00 am, Monday, March 18, at The First Presbyterian Church in Norman, OK, 555 South University Boulevard. She will be interred at Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, where she will join her mother, Myrrh; husband Maurice; and granddaughter Christina.
